Well Christmas 2011 has come and gone and we are headed for a new year, 2012. It is a time when many people make a resolution. Some of them include: losing unwanted weight gain, eating a healthier diet , getting more exercise, quit smoking, and much more.
It seems like the number one resolution is losing weight, for most of us that have ate too much during the holidays, weather it is 5lbs or 25 lbs, it can seem like a real task. It really isn't as hard as you might think. What I have found is that if you just cut out fried foods, sugar, cut down on carbs. and set yourself up on a regular exercise program, you'll lose the extra weight in no time. I also cut my portions of food. If you get a craving for something sweet, or a snack, what I suggest is just take a small piece to satisfy your craving. I don't suggest you do that and then go to bed.LOL
It is also important to get exercise, as well cutting down your food intake. If you put aside just 20 minutes a day for basic exercises , that will also help in losing the unwanted lbs. There are alot of exercise programs that are set up for your specific needs. It is best to start out at a smaller pace and add more as you feel fit, so you don't over do it. Once you feel comfortable, add weights to your program. You can start out with 2lbs and always add more, as you feel you are ready. Walking is another great source of exercise and if you have access to a pool, swimming is great too!
The main thing with dieting is to be patient. The weight didn't get on you in one day and you are not going to lose it in one day either. Starvation diets don't work. That just makes you frustrated and you fall back into bad eating habits again and probably put on more weight. What you need is encouragement, to keep you motivated. One way is to find a pair of jeans that you have outgrown and strive to get into them again or find a friend who wants to lose weight too and do it together on a buddy system!
The Internet is also a good resource for losing weight. You can find meal planning ideas, basic exercise and whatever else you might need to help you achieve your goals.
I am not an expert, but I know what has worked for me!
Good Luck! Happy New Year and remember, be patient!
